Steve was born and raised in Cloquet, graduating from Cloquet High School in 1975 and graduated from St. John’s University in 1979. He started his insurance career in June of 1979 at Nationwide Insurance Company. In May of 1981, he came to work at Reliable Agency. Steve is the father of two great kids, son Andy and daughter Robyn. In 1983 Steve was elected to the Minnesota Professional Insurance Agents (MN PIA) board. In 1987, he earned his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) designations and also received the Chairman of the Year award for his work in the MN PIA. He was elected to the executive committee of the MIIA in 1989. In 1991 Young Agent of the Year PIA/IIABA Minnesota, 1992 Presidents Award IIABA of Minnesota, 1992-93 President of the Combined PIA/IIABA of Minnesota. President of Cloquet Rotary Club in 2002-2003. In 1999, 2001, 2004, and 2007 received Rotarian of the Year awards. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Carlton County Historical Society. He was the District Chairman for the Great Bear District from 1998 to 2003.
In 2015 elected to the Cloquet Country Club Board and in 2016 serves on the Cloquet Educational Foundation Board. In his spare time Steve enjoys traveling, hiking, golf, camping and spending time with family and friends.
